Mini Makers is an engaging weekly program designed especially for Grade 1–2 students, offering a fun and interactive introduction to the world of technology and creativity. Each 1.5-hour session is thoughtfully structured to spark curiosity and build foundational skills through hands-on learning experiences in coding, robotics, and Minecraft.
In the Mini Makers: Skill Circuit, children explore three core areas that form the building blocks of modern digital literacy. In coding, students are introduced to essential concepts using Scratch, a beginner-friendly educational programming language that helps them understand logic, sequencing, and problem-solving through visual blocks. This approach makes learning intuitive and enjoyable, even for young beginners.
The robotics component brings ideas to life as students work with Microbit microcontrollers. Kids learn how code interacts with the physical world, gaining insight into how digital instructions can control real devices. This hands-on experience enhances their understanding of cause and effect, while also nurturing critical thinking and creativity.
In the Minecraft segment, students dive into a world they already love, transforming gameplay into a powerful learning tool. Using features like Redstone (which simulates electrical circuits), commands, and WorldEdit, children develop computational thinking, design skills, and collaboration abilities. They also gain exposure to advanced concepts such as remote servers, while learning the importance of teamwork and responsible online behavior.
In addition to the Skill Circuit, specialized tracks such as Mini Makers: Coding (Scratch) and Mini Makers: Minecraft allow students to deepen their knowledge in specific areas. These programs provide a focused environment where kids can further develop their interests while continuing to build confidence and technical skills.
Mini Makers is more than just a class—it’s a community where young learners collaborate, communicate, and grow together. With flexible scheduling options and the ability to request new class times, the program is designed to fit seamlessly into busy family routines.
At $199 per month, Mini Makers offers a valuable opportunity for children to develop essential 21st-century skills while having fun, making friends, and exploring their creativity in a supportive and inspiring environment.
