About
Ice Unite is Silver Blades’ synchronized skating program for figure skaters who want to train and perform as part of a team. Synchronized skating (“synchro”) is a figure skating discipline where 8–16 skaters perform a choreographed routine together, moving in unison with precise formations, intricate footwork, and shared musical interpretation. It’s a great option for skaters who enjoy a fun, high-energy team environment and want to further develop their edge quality, timing, and performance skills.
Team rosters for the 2025/26 season are set in Spring 2025, with teams typically training at Centennial Arena and Canadian Ice Academy due to limited ice time at Central Arena. Practice commitments vary by level: Beginner & Star 4 teams usually train once per week, while Star 6 & up teams train twice per week for 2–3 hours per practice. Because each skater has a defined role in the choreography, attendance at practices and competitions is mandatory. Teams generally compete 3–4 times per season at events across Ontario between December and March.
Families and skaters interested in joining Ice Unite or learning more about level placement, try-outs, and team expectations are encouraged to contact the synchro coordinator at synchro@silverblades.ca.
